Fractional HCM Solution Architect role
Let me know if this is something you have experience with and would be interested in working PT for up to 20 hrs per week.
Client is looking for an SA Lead who can lead/mentor the team and provide guidance on templates and frameworks; all that remains the same. One specific addition is someone with experience in solution design for an HCM system. They are looking at all the big ones, including Workday, Oracle, etc. They have not chosen one yet, but this is a gap that exists that they would like this person to have.
The Need:
This is a new role. Client doesn’t have a formal Solution Architecture practice, right now it exists of 2 Solution Architects who work across several business lines. The person in this role will work alongside these 2 Architects and build out a nimble, elastic, and scalable framework that can eventually be used globally. The end goal is to have a Solution Architect in place for each business unit. Think of this role as a fractional / advisory person who has been a Solution Architect Lead who has built a framework for Solution Architecture. Of the current Solution Architects, one is more technical while the other is more pragmatic and comes from a finance background.Â
Solution Architect & Team Lead Position Summary
This is a fractional/ part-time Solution Architect Lead role. They have Solutions Architects on staff but need a lead to assist with building the Solution Architecture practice at APi.
As a Solutions Architect, you will tackle large-scale challenges for some of our biggest business customers. You will work with our teams of engineers, developers, and business and technical business analysts to define and design simple solutions to complex challenges. You will also act as a subject matter expert on all things technology, guiding the team to make the right technical decisions.
This is a technical leadership role; you will be an expert consultant internally for our teams and business customers. You will develop strong relationships with our technical stakeholders and work with them to understand the client’s ecosystems where our solutions will be built and drive deep collaboration with our Enterprise Architecture team to drive standards technology reuse and develop future state technology roadmaps. You will step into ambiguous situations, working to understand new business domains and challenges. You will then ideate and create architectural design and proof of concepts across teams.
You don’t need to be the leading expert across the full stack, but you are generally experienced in all aspects of software development, and you are comfortable reviewing any request from your team, be it for the front end, back end, or DevOps. Your strongest skill is your curiosity and ability to learn quickly. As a Solutions Architect and Team Lead, the solution space is not constrained to what you know today. You are a great communicator, you cultivate relationships, building rapport and trust with your colleagues, clients, and stakeholders. You make sure every voice is heard, all needs are understood, and there is clarity and alignment on engineering/development plans.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work with internal teams to identify business requirements and design technical solutions that meet business needs.
• Lead and mentor a team of architects, engineers, and developers, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project delivery.

• Research technologies and assess their fit for the challenge at hand.
• Educate and coach internal IT teams and stakeholders about our approach to software and solutions development.

• Conduct work product review for team members’ and quality deliverables.
Requirements:
• Highly skilled with architectural design diagrams. This person should be able to design at a high level, breaking down complexity into simplicity, and then into details. Meaning, too much and too fancy doesn’t work for this organization, it scares people (less is more).
• Looking for someone who can not only create the framework, but can create templates and help create the model that will be replicated throughout the organization
• Technically savvy, pragmatic, and who is a good storyteller. Ideally a background as a Technical BSA or Application Development.
